Prescope wasn't designed by engineers observing product teams from the outside. It was built by someone who has worked directly inside those teams — as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Product Manager, and Technical Delivery Lead — across some of the most complex enterprise environments in the world.


The problem that wouldn't go away

Across 15+ years of enterprise delivery — spanning financial services, insurance, retail, healthcare IT, federal government, payments, and platform engineering — one pattern repeated itself regardless of industry, team size, or methodology.

Stakeholders bring messy, broad, vague requests to planning sessions. Teams decompose them into stories immediately. Then the stories get contested in refinement, debated in sprint planning, revised mid-sprint, and eventually rewritten from scratch — because the underlying request was never properly classified or scoped before the work began.

The root cause isn't poor execution. It's a missing step. No one stops to ask: what kind of work request is this, really? Is this an Epic spanning multiple systems and teams? A high-level initiative that needs features defined first? Or is it actually a Feature — specific enough that stories make sense right now?

Every AI tool built for backlog and requirements work makes this mistake: they assume every input is already a Feature, and generate stories immediately. Prescope was built to fix that — not by making story generation faster, but by making the entire process more correct from the start.

What makes it different

The classify-first approach isn't a design preference. It's a methodology decision grounded in how experienced delivery professionals actually think about scope. The six classification levels — Epic, High-Level Initiative, Initiative/Feature Group, Feature, User Story, Discovery Needed — map directly to the mental model that senior BAs, POs, PMs, and Project Managers apply before they write a single requirement.

The domain contexts — ITSM, SaaS, Retail, Healthcare — aren't decorative labels. Each one carries a specific set of personas, platforms, regulatory constraints, and delivery archetypes that fundamentally change what good requirements look like. An incident lifecycle workflow in a regulated financial institution looks nothing like a checkout optimization in an ecommerce platform. Prescope knows the difference and reflects it in every output.

The process flow diagrams with business rules and data rules exist because there was a real gap: teams were generating stories without any artifact showing how the solution would actually operate at runtime. Every experienced BA knows this artifact matters. Prescope generates it automatically, without requiring a separate Visio or Lucidchart session.

Operating across large-scale enterprise environments where requirements failures had direct business consequences made precision non-negotiable.
Mid-Career
Cross-industry methodology refinement
A decade of consulting and embedded delivery roles across financial services, insurance, healthcare IT, HCM platforms, and federal government technology programs produced a repeatable pattern: teams that classified work correctly before decomposing it delivered faster, with fewer rework cycles, and with better stakeholder alignment. The pattern held across every industry and methodology — Agile, SAFe, hybrid, and waterfall alike.
Recent Years
AI, AIOps, and platform engineering
Deep work in enterprise ITSM, observability platforms, and AI-powered automation programs at global scale validated that the classify-first problem was not Agile-specific — it existed in every delivery context where stakeholder requests needed to become governed, executable work. The intersection of AI capability and delivery methodology created the conditions for Prescope to exist.
2025
Prescope built and validated
Prescope was designed, built, and validated — a direct application of 15+ years of multi-industry delivery methodology, powered by the Anthropic Claude API. The domain contexts, classification engine, progressive decomposition logic, and process flow generator were all derived from real patterns observed across real engagements — not extrapolated from theory.
2026
Prescope™ launches
Prescope LLC is formed in New York. The product launches to BAs, POs, PMs, and Project Managers across ITSM, SaaS, Retail, and Healthcare — the four domains where the classify-first gap is most acute and the cost of requirements failure is most visible. The USPTO trademark for PRESCOPE is filed. The methodology is proven. The product is ready.
